Based in Portland, OR, Families and Teachers of Whitman PTA is a group for Whitman Elementary School teachers and families to connect with each other and support our school community. We build relationships, raise money for school programs and help with school events.

All are welcome! You don't have to be a member to join one of our meetings or volunteer for an event. However, if you would like to better support our efforts, consider joining the PTA.
Membership involves attending one meeting or event per school year as well as a one-time payment of $12 per school year. If payment is a barrier, please reach out to us via email—we can cover your dues! We also accept pay-it-forward donations if you would like to sponsor additional memberships.

PPS is looking at whether to close or combine some schools, and Whitman Elementary may be affected. Any closures would happen by fall 2027, and decisions are moving quickly (within the next month) — so this is our moment to speak up, share our stories, and be loud about what Whitman means to our community.
Whitman is such a special place: students are known, families are welcomed, and staff care deeply about the children they serve. We want to make sure the voices of Whitman families are front and center in this conversation.
